Purpose Driven Games (PDG) was contracted by Invest Clayton to develop a county-wide workforce collaboration strategy. The goal was to explore how workforce development organizations could work together more effectively and examine potential structures for forming a coordinated workforce board or collaborative focused on shared challenges and future workforce needs.
Our Approach
Through strategic consulting, PDG worked with Invest Clayton to develop a gamified approach to collaboration around workforce challenges. The engagement combined a structured, participatory learning experience, which allowed participants to explore collaboration models, clarify shared priorities, and practice working together across organizational boundaries.
- Strategic Consulting: We collaborated with Invest Clayton to design a workforce collaboration strategy, identifying the key issues faced by workforce development agencies and their stakeholders.
- Training Development: We developed a training framework that supported cross-agency coordination, providing real-world scenarios for problem-solving and decision-making.
- Facilitation: PDG facilitated a multi-stakeholder Gameshop convening, engaging participants through hands-on activities focused on enacting joint workforce initiatives.
Outcomes & Impact
- Training for 25 Workforce Development Agencies and Community Stakeholders
- 73% of participants reported interest in moving forward with participating in a workforce collaborative.
- 93% of participants rated the breakout activities and audience engagement as excellent.
- The Gameshop increased participants’ understanding of the importance of a shared collaborative governance structure and secured cross-departmental buy-in for participation in a structured county-wide workforce collaborative.
